5th Anniversary of VGU SEPT MBA celebrated and Masters’ degrees awarded in Ho Chi Minh City
On Saturday morning, 27th of May, students, lecturers and graduates of VGU’s SEPT MBA program gathered in a Hotel near to VGU city campus, celebrating the degree awarding ceremony for fresh graduates. At the same time, it is the 5th Anniversary of the VGU MBA specialized in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Development, which is offered in close collaboration with the University of Leipzig in Germany.
“Entrepreneurship, Innovation Management and the Development of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, shaping the special profile of VGU’s MBA, are of significant importance for the economic development of Vietnam” the Acting President Dr. Ha Thuc Vien accentuated in his welcome statement. “The MBA program enables our graduates not only to pursue challenging goals for their future career. They will also generate chances for others by launching new businesses and taking over leadership in the firms they work for.”
Dr. Utz Dornberger, Professor for Development Economics at University Leipzig and Academic Director of the MBA Program, recollected the achievements of the 5 past years, since the MBA was a success story from the launch in 2012. He expressed his special thanks to Ms. Linh Thai Dinh Huynh who pushed as academic coordinator with creativity and endurance the establishment of the program in Ho Chi Minh City. He pointed out that besides the MBA manifold activities of the fruitful collaboration between VGU and Leipzig University have been launched successfully, promoting the development of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Vietnam, such as the short courses for Chief Innovation Officers or Export Managers and the Best Innovators Award.
“Hidden copying is unacceptable in science. Learning from other enterprises or industries by adapting strategic innovation can be key to success in business development” Prof. Dornberger emphasized in his speech about Smart Imitation later. He illustrated how tactics along the innovation chain can be used to assemble and renovate business models.
At the following graduation ceremony Professor Dornberger handed over the MBA degree of University Leipzig to graduates. Additionally six graduates have been awarded with prizes for excellent performance in the study program. Two candidates received scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service for a study abroad semester in Leipzig. In his laudation Professor Dornberger mentioned that many VGU MBA graduates have been awarded scholarships for study abroad opportunities and the exceptional ratio that launched own businesses inspired by their experiences in the program.
“This is not the end – we will stay in touch” Professor Dornberger alluded on frequent networking events within the MBA Alumni network of VGU and University Leipzig, before the celebrations concluded with a lively lunch together.
