MELES Short-term joint staff training event at University of the Aegean

The International SEPT Program took part at MELES staff training event at University of the Aegean on 22-28 April 2018. The short-term joint staff training event and project meeting of the ABC-MELES 2.0 project partners was organized by the University of the Aegean and took place at the premises of Blue Growth initiative in Piraeus from April 22nd to April the 28th, 2018.

At the opening Ioannis Theotokas welcomed the participants in Piraeus and presented the agenda for the upcoming days and the program of the week. Katerina Kanelidou presented the plan for the training. The short-term joint staff training started on the second day of the event. Katerina Kanelidou and Iris Baloglou made the introduction, presented the structure of the training and distributed the training material to the participants. The Coach training program for each day of training was as follows:

Monday, April 23:

  • Coaching – Definition, Principles, History – Influences – Coaching Niches
  • The academic as coach – The role of the business coach
  • ICF Core competencies – Skills and Attributes
  • Why coaching (science behind the art)

Tuesday, April 24:

  • Code of Ethics – Law and Ethics in coaching
  • Contracting – Creating the coaching agreement
  • Levels of contracting – Similarities and differences for individual and team coaching in contracting
  • Vision – Purpose – Values
  • Establishing trust

Wednesday, April 25:

  • Goal setting – SMART/EXACT models
  • Active Listening – 5 levels of listening - Empathy
  • Powerful questioning
  • Non-violent communication – Positive language
  • Direct Communication - Effective feedback
  • Coaching presence – Self -management – Mindfulness

Thursday, April 26:

  • Creating awareness – Reframing
  • Designing Actions – Structures
  • Managing progress – Accountability
  • Diversity – Cultural competency

On Friday, April the 27th the training event featured the presentation and discussion of the SMILE Method by Christian Hauke. A discussion followed. During the second part of the morning session Katerina Kanelidou presented the Reflections – connections with the remote coaching – self development plan. During the afternoon session participants discussed issues related to the Project Managment and the forthcoming events. Piotr Wolejsza presented the administrative issues regarding the Project and dates for the completion of the tasks were discussed and agreed upon. Bogusz Wisnicki presented the review of the material of the Entrepreneurship 2 course. Mariana Pita presented the timetable for the summer school in Aveiro. Helen Iakovaki gave a presentation on Financial Plan terms. On Saturday, April 28 partners discussed the tasks allocation regarding further steps of the Project and agreed on them.
