Renewable Energies - Chances and Challenges for SME's
The 13th International SEPneT Workshop, held between the 19th and 23rd of September 2011 in Bangkok, Thailand brought together former students from the SEPT Program, the IMRE Program and the Vocational Education and Adult Education in International Development Work Program. The workshop regarding the topic "Renewable Energies - Chances and Challenges for SME's" gave the participants the opportunity to learn from each other’s knowledge and experiences related to environmental and resource management in SMEs, within a framework of presentations and discussion sessions.
On the 21st of September, technological, economic and political issues, relevant to the key role that SMEs play in the development and use of renewable resources, were approached during the international symposium on renewable energies at the Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel Bangkok. The event was opened by Dr. Thomas Multhaupt, Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Ute Rietdorf, representative of SEPneT University Leipzig, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kitti Tirasesth, President of King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. Representatives of research, governmental, and financing institutions from Thailand, Germany and abroad, were able to present their most relevant programs, activities and experiences in the field to an audience of about 60 guests from more than 15 different countries.
The symposium was organized by SEPneT - The Small Enterprise Promotion Network, SEACUS - Southeast Asien Center for Urban Sustainability, and the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and supported by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).
