Market-Driven Innovation

In the global economy, innovation is one of the determinant factors for strengthening the competitive capabilities of enterprises.

In the praxis, innovation is a knowledge-transforming-mechanism which constrains sequential and interdependent elements. This mechanism acts as a process and for this reason innovation is to be understood as a process, which requires the colaboration of all the functional departments involved.

Accoding to our experience,  in every innovation process the attention is to be centered on the potential users and their unfulfilled needs in order to develop or reconfigure future or present products and services based on this information. In this way, the  possibilities of success of the new product or service increase dramatically.

For this reason, the innovation management methodology developed at SEPT takes the “voice of the customer” as starting point of every innovation process. The “voice of the customer”  is focused on the identification of consumers’ needs, as well as their trends, in order to initiate intelligent design processes.

The innovation process itself begins with the generation of ideas and maintains the focus on the consumer in all its stages. For this reason the proposed methodology receives the name of "Market-Driven Innovation".

Given the importance of this topic SEPT has developed a training diploma course that focuses on the management of innovation especially for SMEs.

This diploma course is divided in four different teaching moduls:

  1. The market as strategic source of ideas for the innovation
  2. Strategy, Culture and Innovation Leadership
  3. Ideas Management. The concept of Innovation Project and its Implementation
  4. Innovative products and services marketing

Additionally, there also exists the possibility to include a fifth "coaching module" where participants (in groups of at least three people) have the possibility to analyze a real problem of their own organization (e.g. enterprise, research center, etc.) and find a solution with the support of qualified experts.

This phase is intended to the application of the knowledge transferred during the three theoretical modules and includes bilateral or multilateral meetings, where the participants will be able to discuss their results and problems related to the application of the leaned techniques and instruments.
