Our MBA Program is taught by a combination of fulltime resident university lecturers and visiting lecturers.
The main purpose of our MBA is to offer a practical approach that comes as close to reality as possible. Therefore, over 60% of our faculty consists of consultants and experts, who are active in every one of the subjects that are part of the program.
Prof. Dr. Utz Dornberger (University of Leipzig, Director of SEPT)
Dr. Dornberger is the Director of the SEPT Program and has a Professorship in development economics. His academic and professional focus is especially on innovation in SMEs, innovation policy, entrepreneurship promotion and internationalization processes.
Prof. Dr. Robert Kappel (GIGA Hamburg)
Prof. Kappel is the Head of the German Institute of Global and Area-Studies (based in Hamburg) and has vast international experience in the field of development economics. He teaches in the field of value chain, particularly discussing the questions of upgrading and integration in global value chains.
Prof. Dr. Helge Löbler (Chair for Marketing at the University of Leipzig)
Prof. Löbler is the Head of the Chair for Marketing of the University of Leipzig and is an expert in marketing topics and entrepreneurship promotion. He is responsible for the marketing module inside the MBA program.
Prof. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Walter (Private Consultant)
Prof. Walter has extensive experience in the field of development cooperation and economic integration. He has been a Guest Professor in several countries in Africa and the Middle-East. At SEPT, he teaches in the field of financial markets and microcredit.
Dr. Ute Rietdorf (Senior Research Assistant, University of Leipzig)
Dr. Rietdorf is in charge of the modules regarding institutional economics, social capital, knowledge management and methodology. She is also a student research project supervisor for the students' third term.
Dr. Frank Waeltring (Consultant, Mesopartner)
Mr. Waeltring is an economist and expert in local economic development. He worked in a large number of SME promotion projects around the world. At SEPT, he teaches management tools for the promotion of local economic development.
Uwe Becher (Consultant, Conoscope GmbH)
Mr. Becher has a major in business administration from the Technical University of Dresden and has extensive experience as a consultant to German firms in questions of internationalization and with foreign firms in the field of technology transfer and in the development of successful marketing concepts. He teaches in the modules international marketing in SMEs and business finance.
Thomas Lehr (Consultant, Conoscope GmbH)
Mr. Lehr has a major in business pedagogy and actually works as a trainer and consultant in the fields of soft skills development and entrepreneurship promotion. He teaches the module communication and presentation techniques and assists students who want to start-up their own businesses.
Dr. Uwe Ebeling (Private Consultant)
Dr. Ebeling worked for more than 30 years in the German Development Cooperation as an expert for vocational training and competence development in SMEs. At SEPT, he teaches in the field of human resources in SMEs, especially in the concepts and theories regarding the development of competencies inside small businesses.
Gabi Struck (Private consultant)
Mrs. Struck has a long trajectory in the field of international cooperation, especially in different projects in Africa and South America. She teaches the course of project management, which she developed based on her own experiences in projects of international cooperation and SME promotion in emerging countries.
Dr. Susanna Adam (Private consultant)
Dr. Adam worked for more than 30 year in the German Development Cooperation as an expert for vocational training and competence development in SMEs. She is an expert in methods for data collection in social science research and assists students in the development of their questionnaires and research concepts.
Dr. Noor Un Nabi Mohamed (Graduate Research Assistant)
Mr. Nabi's research interests include internationalization of the firms and global value chain. He conducts lectures on 'globalization and the SMEs' and 'internationalization of the SMEs'. He supports the students in the development of the research projects and completion of the masters theses.
J. Alfredo Suvelza (Graduate Research Assistant)
Mr. Suvelza's main research interests include social capital and internationalization of SMEs. He runs the business simulations, the trainings on presentation techniques and supports students in the development of essays, research concepts and master theses. He is also in charge of the Alumni Program and the online tools and webpages.
STAFF
Monika Große
Mrs. Große is the Secretary of the SEPT Program and of the Institute of African Studies. She is in charge of the administrative procedures inside the University and supports the SEPT team in this field.
Christine Tonscheidt
Ms. Tonscheidt is in charge of the contact with potential students and she is also the contact person for academic issues and formalities for the MBA Program in Leipzig and Hanoi. She holds a degree in interpreting and translation and has worked in the past as a Program Manager in a development NGO.
